Wednesday July 29, 2009:
Well here we are almost a week and a half after coming home and I am finally sitting down to write this post. Sad…
Portland/Beaverton…
The one thing about allowing to much time to occur between events and posts is that I forget details (they say that your memory is the 2nd thing to go when you get older). I will try not to do that in the future. Ok, so on with Portland.
We were blessed when families in the church offered to put us in their homes. Several host families took our guys pods and others took our girl pods. Each group had an adult leader with them. Gary and I stayed at the youth pastor’s house and were blessed with a good nights sleep our last couple of nights.
Just after arriving at the Calvary Chapel Portland offices in Beaverton, we ate lunch, prayed, packed up our ministry gear and walked to a park that was two blocks away. It was hard getting started as there were so many people there and it was almost to hot to think.
We waited about 45 minutes for it to cool down a bit and then started doing the dramas. Our intention was to do them once every hour, but we only got the opportunity to perform them one time as the kids started talking to folks around the park for the rest of the time. Five people came to Jesus that Friday evening…
The next day we planned an outreach at the same park after the farmer’s market had ended. We arrived about an hour before the farmer’s market had ended. We were told that we could not evangelize in the farmer’s market, but that did not stop the kids. Later we set up to perform the dramas in the same place we did the night before.
Cast your nets on the other side…
Unlike the night before, nothing happened. After a few hours, the decision was made to move the dramas fifty feet over in the same park. Eight people came to Christ!! The scripture that comes to mind is John 21:1-6…
Homeward bound…
Gary and I got the opportunity to share about the trip first service at Calvary Chapel Portland… After service, we packed everything up and did the long hall home… We drove directly from Portland Oregon to Woodland and then Placerville almost non-stop. I will never do that again…
last Sunday night the kids got to give testimony of the trip. Below is the postcast and video footage of the entire trip that we showed on Sunday evening.
enjoy…
